. These are industrial cut-offs.
NOTE:
12L14 is NOT rust-resistant: it is cold-rolled steel and starts getting minor surface rust as soon as it's been cleaned of machine oil.  T
his is superficial and will disappear with a turn or two on the lathe.  If you're storing it for a while, use your cleaning material of choice and then spray with WD40.

or whatever reason, this batch has no rust (at least at the moment). We double-checked, it's definitely 12L14 -- took a bit off one of the ends, made chips not curls.
These factory remnants are unused cut-offs from an automatic lathe:

Items have been professionally cleaned so are free of machine oil.
Details:
* Contains lead, which adds lubrication and makes 12L14 excellent for free machining
* 12L14 is particularly good for machining close-tolerance parts. Also good for parts involving crimping, bending, or riveting.
* 12L14 gives a smooth, machined surface and allows for increased tool life
* NOT recommended for welding or case-hardening
